Some articles say 10 lords were executed during the Middle Ages and their heads were placed on spikes on the bridge, and they’re now said to sing ballads of sadness to scare away anyone brave enough to cross the bridge at midnight.

Other articles talk about the ‘famous’ “27 Protestant lords who were beheaded in Staromestské Square for their habit of throwing Catholic envoys onto the castle dung heap. It’s said the headless lords are still seen from time to time and their apparition foretells bad times for Prague’s citizens”.

It’s quite interesting with the gold on the bridge is meant to scare the ghosts away…also the painted white crosses on the floor sybolise the 27 executions as it were.

Thank you for your inquiry.
The only way to do it is to organize a one ofthem as a private tour for you. Which month are you coming, it is important because of the length of the day. We do not want to start to early in summer because days are to long!
I suggest:
You start with a Haunted History of Bridge a bit earlier, 6:30pm-7pm. it will be a private tour for your group only. It lasts 75 min. You take a break 30-45 min to refresh, have a drink,use the bathroom, and then we start Ghosts and Legends at 9pm + Underground walk if you wish. You would join a regular tour at 9 pm.

What do you think about that?

I will give you a discount for booking two tours, 350 CZK for both tours if you are 12 people and more. I cannot keep the same price if the number of people drops.
If you decide to join the underground walk it is 50 CZK per person more. It is the fee to the premises and not charged by our company.

Also, the weather is looking pretty nice at the moment, both here and in Prague. Sun is forecast from now until early next week. The downside is that it is a LOT colder. Highs of -1 (our high is 4) and lows of -12 (ours is -4). So it’ll be sunny, but FREEZING.

Bruncvik statue stands aside. It represents a knight with a golden sword, a coat-of-arms and a lion beside. It was made according to a fragment of the original statue, which was damaged during the Thirty Years´ War. An old legend about Bruncvik says, that he was a Czech ruler, who went to faraway countries to gain a right to have a stately coat-of-arms. He allegedly saved a lion on his journey and the lion accompanied him ever since. There is a lion in the Bohemian national emblem. Bruncvik also gained a miraculous sword, which could kill anybody on his demand. The sword was built up somewhere in the Charles Bridge and it will wait there till the country is in danger. Than, the legend says, the knights in the Blanik hill will come to Prague, St. Wenceslas will lead them, and they will help the country. The sword will serve to them. When the Charles Bridge was restored after a flood in 1890, a big rusty sword was reportedly really found in the bridge deck.
Bruncvik is a Czech mythical prince, who decides to go around the world to acquire a lion to his coat of arms. He gets lost at sea, saves a lion who follows him then forever, fights with dragons and other creatures, he also delivers a princess called Africa… but in the end, becaming a big hero, he desides to return home, back to his wife Neomenie. This is the legend of him, and this is his statue at the base of the Charles Bridge.
Bruncvik’s lion is said to be the two-tailed lion in the Czech state symbol, while his sword is hidden somewhere. According to the 19th century recorder of legends, Alois Jirasek, the sword’s hiding place is inside the stones of the Charles Bridge right next to the statue of Bruncvik that stands below the bridge on the Kampa side – and one day, when the Czech lands are at their lowest point, at the very edge of ruin, St Wenceslas will rise from the dead, take Bruncvik’s sword, and save the day (and the nation).
Water Goblin

A water goblin is believed to live under the bridge, devouring the souls of those who drown or jump off of the bridge. This creature is credited with eating the souls of those who jump off the bridge and those that drown in the Vlatva River. (i couldn’t find out much more about this than this!)

MUSEUMS

Charles Bridge Museum looks like it is about the history of the bridge. How it was constructed what has happened to it over the years. This might be use full if we want to look at a section on the history of the bridge. Opening times 10am to 6pm. cost 150CZK (£5.30).

Prague museum is again historical artefacts, has a cardboard model of the city. Open tue to sunday 9-6. 40CZK for students (£1.50).

Im not sure what other museums would be relevant and if these even are so if anyone wants me to look at any others then please tell me.

Other points

Carly can you write up a rough shooting schedule once the ideas are done please? And Josh can you research the sunset/rise times and other points discussed? Can the camera operators look at the camera styles for documentary as they are different?

The film night has been planned for the 8th February, can everyone comment on ideas for what to show? This needs to be done my monday.

At the meeting we have decided to change to the Z1 as they are a good documentary camera and also everyone feels comfortable using them so if we have a problem then everyone can help to try to sort it. This will need we need some money for tapes, sorry camera ops can you work out how many we will need please?

I have spoken to Steve about the idea and he likes it, he does think that it might be a little narrow just basing it around the bridge. He said it has been done before. He wanted us to look further a field to see if there was anything else, he mentioned the Golem, so anyone who is not researching anything in the list above can they look at this and other myths in the city please. He doesn’t want it to look like ghost hunters or something so can Kim and David come up with an ‘angle’ so that steve knows that we are really thinking about this.

Can everyone please put all research on here so that everyone can see it, even if it is small. I just need to know that everyone is doing something as we are fast running out of time :S

So just to reiterate all research and ideas for a film by Monday!!
